An Active Pathways Network in Haliburton Village
Imagine a seamless network of pathways that you could use to walk, bike, and wheel around Haliburton Village!
Friends of the Rail Trail (FoRT) and the Municipality of Dysart et al have launched a project to identify an Active Pathways Network in Haliburton Village. The goal of the Active Pathways Network is to make it safer and easier for people to use active travel for errands, leisure, and to get to work in Haliburton Village.
This project was launched in November 2023 with funding from the Government of Canada and will be completed in the summer of 2024.
What is active travel?
Active travel can be a fun, healthy, sustainable, and convenient way to get around. For the purposes of this project, active travel includes human-powered movement (e.g., walking, cycling, scooting), use of an accessibility device (e.g., wheelchair, electric wheelchair, walker), and travel using devices that give you a boost (e.g. electric bicycle or electric kick-scooter).
