Stanhope Heritage Cycling Tour
Particpants in the Stanhope Heritage Cycling Tour - range in age from 4 to 74 or more

This is a leisurely guided Bicycle Ramble for the curious cyclist of any age or ability. Starts at 10 am, and wraps up with a bring-your-own picnic social Après. It's an easy 10 km loop beginning and ending at Buttermilk Falls picnic area.

The tour includes lots of stops to explore pioneer history, private sculptures, heritage stone architecture and scenic natural settings. The route is fairly flat and shady, following quiet backroads. It's perfect for novice or lapsed cyclists. It's a Sunday Ramble on two wheels with lots of time for friendly interaction along the way.

Friends of the Rail Trail (FoRT) discovered this little gem of a cycling loop years agoand it's become a favorite. The unique outing fulfills FoRT's mandate to offer free public programming focusing on history, nature and appreciation of greenspace. As with FoRT's popular rail trail Sunday Rambles, the social lunch Après is a welcome feature. Participants enjoy their picnic lunch beside the dramatic Buttermilk Falls rapids while continuing conversations with friends newly met.

What to bring: your bicycle, helmet, water, snacks, picnic lunch, bugspray, sunscreen, camera - most importantly your curiosity and enthusiasm!

Tour is open to the public Free! Optional memberships to FoRT as always are available at $10 per adult.
